Tebo Wins Neo12 For The 4th Time!

At one point it looked like he wouldn’t be coming, but once again Jared Tebo showed he is the King of Harper Adams, picking up his 4th title and continuing his 100% show up, TQ & Win record, is there anyone who can stop the Kyosho driver? Ty Tessmann has emerged in 2012 as the one who may well be best placed to challenge, a strong showing in quali and he put in a stunning drive in the final, although Tebo’s fuel strategy (12 mins) saw him pit 3 times, vs. Ty’s 10 min strategy which saw him come in for fuel once more. Ty was arguably the faster driver, clawing back the 9 sec gap that opened up as he pitted first, From the start the trio of Tebo, Ty & Maifield pulled out a lead followed by Lutz some way back, at the 15-20 min mark, Maifield had dropped back a bit leaving it up to Ty to challenge. At one point the two frontrunners were extremely close on track, with the crowd behind Ty who was shaving off the gap lap after lap, it proper on track battle never materialised though as pitstops insued and the pair returned to trading laptimes. It was clear from early on though that if Ty were to have a chance he’d have to build a 10 sec to Tebo, however had Ty been on the same fuel strategy as Tebo things could have been very different with Ty arguably the faster driver.

I want to personally thank all the DXR guys, Lewis, Wes, Andy, Kong, Tinny, Gurdy, Andy, Mark Ben, the race control team of Kevin, Sue, Rob, Diane & Jason for putting in a fantastic shift to make this event happen. It had it’s fair share of controversy with regards the rumoured tyre additive usage, its just a shame when politics get involved and accusations begin to fly around out of control. Whilst the Neo race is well known for usually running quite smoothly, heavy rain on the Monday, coupled with gutters full with leaves on the roof soon began to cause an issue as waterfalls began to form, this caused water to seep into the track, causing a water feature between the option double! Not a feature we had planned originally, and one the DXR team quickly set to work on, predictably the lights in the track went out as cables got wet, this temporarily killed the drivers stand public PA – very difficult circumstances to try and recover from. After establishing the lights were OK and removing some of the water from the double we opted to cancel the Grid Shootout – a feature we’d worked hard on to provide more entertainment to the crowd and fans, it wasn’t to be due to the unknown circumstances. However the semis, Bash & final ran without major incident. I can only thank everyone for their patience, kind words of understanding and the hard graft by team DXR!

Neo12 Tebo dominates Sunday Dash4Cash

Neo12 – Day 3 – Dash 4 Cash from NeoBuggy.net on Vimeo.

Jerome Aigoin started on pole as qualifer #12, but it was car 12 of Jared Tebo who ended up taking the win, Jared sliced and diced his way through the field as Jerome Aigoin held the early lead followed by a few laps of Adam Drake until the point when top qualifier Jared Tebo emerged. Ty Tessmann & Drake battled for 2nd with that position going to the young Canadian. The nature of Tebo’s dominating drive will surely worry a few of his fellow potential finalists as he came from the back to the front in this short 10 min race.

Jared Tebo TQ’s Neo12

Jared Tebo takes TQ at the Neo12! Ty Tessmann took Q1 and Q3 yesterday, with Jared Tebo challenging him in Q2. We suspected today might come down to these two drivers. This years track features an exciting option allowing drivers to take a shorter but more technical line through the whoops or a slightly longer but smoother line over a kicker. As the track has worn-in the whoops have become increasingly faster and Tebo was quick to capitalise this line in Q4, Tebo TQ’ed the round comfortably beating his Canadian rival, Tessmann, who finished the round in 12th. With this line and some clean driving Tebo was able to improve his time by over three seconds.

In Q5 the nearly all of the top drivers were taking the new line. Tessmann made a few mistakes and then flamed-out. Tessmann’s mistakes and bad luck gave were not echoed with Tebo who put in a storming time, over a second faster than his Q4 result. Overall Tebo TQ’ed three rounds and Tessmann two.

Tessmann tops Neo12 Qualifying

Qualifying at Neo12 saw man of the moment Ty Tessmann steal the show from defending Champion Jared Tebo, as he took TQ by a huge 6 seconds infront of Tebo, last year’s 2nd place driver Robert Batlle took 3rd despite a crash late on. Q2 saw the return of Jared Tebo as the pair swapped positions, this time Tebo on top and Tessmann in 2nd, 1.3 secs slower with reigning World Champion Cody King in 3rd. As qualifying for today drew to a close Ty Tessmann stepped up his pace and set the fastest time – 2.3 secs quicker than Jared Tebo’s Q2 benchmark. The general feeling amongst drivers is very positive towards the track as grip increases, but so small ruts and bumps have begun to develop as is tradition here. Leading the European charge is defending European Champion Robert Batlle, sitting in 6th after Q3, the Spaniard was relaxed about qualifying, the main goal to make the semis and than see what happens. Day 2 of Neo12 finished with two special events, the junior final & the oldie over 35, both 15min races thrilled the watching crowd, with heavy junior favourite Ronnefalk out before the first corner as his car was hit from behind, this opened the door for some other names and Amain Hobbies own Curtis Door battled with Austrian Dominic Bauer, the American taking the win, in 3rd a strong drive from Mugen runner Kennie Ekenstierna. Link to result, the oldies final was sprinkled with a few stars of the past (and the present) with World Champion Adrien Bertin making a special appearance to race at Neo12, he took the win infront of Craig Drescher despite Craig’s last lap heroics – flat out over the woops! David Crompton took 3rd, demonstrating that theres still speed and life in them yet!
